Here Are Six Natural Ways To Get Rid Of Morning Sickness
Pregnancy is an amazing journey for couples. From the moment the home pregnancy kit shows the test results positive to the first scan – everything is new in this journey, and every single moment is unique. However, there are a lot of difficulties and hurdles for new parents though. The physical changes are often not the easiest to get accustomed to for the women. The first few months can be quite problematic. Since using medicines aren’t highly recommended during this period, it is best to stick to your grandmother’s tips and tricks for the first trimester or the first three months of pregnancy. During these months, a woman goes through the same symptoms as the ones they face before menstruation, only they are much more intense. Vomiting and nausea are normal almost every day. Some women find it difficult to have certain kinds of food and even can grow to hate the smell of foods that they once loved. Some women go through such intense periods of vomiting that they end up losing weight instead of gaining. Thankfully, there are tons of home remedies that really work. Here are a few.
Ginger
Ginger can be very soothing for your stomach. Ginger tea, ginger ale, a spoonful of ginger juice or even chewing pieces of ginger can help. Have it any way you like. Sucking and chewing on raw strips of ginger or having ginger candies can help immensely when feeling nauseous. Plus, ginger has natural anti-inflammatory ingredients that help reduce nausea and also helps with better digestion and can even heal an upset stomach.
Aromatherapy
Using various kinds of aromatic oil to reduce the nauseating feeling also works. Mint, orange, or lemon can help a lot in this regard. Just using these oils on a cotton ball and sniffing it from time to time can work wonderfully. However, since each and every woman go through various kinds of symptoms, the same trick doesn’t work for everyone. Spraying the scent in the air works for some, but most women find it a bit too intense, hence putting it in a cotton ball is preferable.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is truly a magic potion that has tons of usefulness. It is helped to treat a number of medical conditions. It is also often used as a flavoring agent in food. If you mix a spoonful of it in a glass of water and drink it on an empty stomach in the morning, then it will alleviate nausea.
Avoid Empty Stomach
Staying without food for an extended period of time can give you nausea any time of the day, not just in the morning. You have to remember that you are eating for not one, but two people now. Hence having small meals at regular intervals can really help. However, when you are sleeping at night your stomach stays empty for a long time. Which is why after initially waking up, you should eat a few crackers first thing in the morning, even before you head to the washroom. Since this is the primary reason for nausea, eating something will definitely help reduce it.
Avoid Certain Food
It is not unknown to get morning sickness from one particular smell of food. If that is the case, avoid it any cost. Strong smells of perfume can also trigger nausea. If you do not like a particular smell while cooking either don’t cook it or get help for cooking. Also, avoiding spicy, high-protein, high-carb, fatty food can cause severe digestive issues. Stick to easy to digest comfort food.
Get More Exercise
Apart from regular walks, join your local pre-natal yoga classes. Of course, you need to consult with your doctor first before you start anything at all. Not just yoga, any kind of physical activity that is safe during these months can keep the body healthy and your baby safe. Swimming is also highly recommended. Don’t let anyone treat you like a patient because of your condition, pregnancy is not a disease, just that you need to have healthier habits now than ever.
As mentioned before, the whole experience differs hugely from woman to woman. If you feel sick and vomit for 12 hours straight, you must go to the emergency. Sometimes Vitamin B 6 supplement can help reduce the symptoms of morning sickness. Eat right, sleep well and exercise daily – it will keep mother and baby both healthy.
