#1 GUCCI
Gucci is considered to be today’s most expensive clothing line beating Chanel on the top spot. This very famous Italian brand was founded way back in 1921 by Guccio Gucci and has about 278 stores worldwide as of 2009. It was even on the 38th Most Valuable Brands list by Forbes with a brand value oh $12.4 million in 2015. Their collection includes luxurious bags, dresses, skirts, shoes, shirts, luggage and ties. Their dresses and bags, and shoes are very well known because a lot of celebrities actually use them. Just like Rihanna, Madonna, Reese Witherspoon and Elle Fanning.
#2 CHANEL
Another notable name when it comes to fashion is Chanel. It was founded by Gabrielle Bonheour “Coco” Chanel, that is now known as the one of the most popular and luxurious fashion houses not just in France but in the entire world. Chanel offers not just dresses, blouses, jewelry, and bags for women, but also suits and shoes for men. Chanel also has the crown for the most luxurious makeup brand in the world. The products of Chanel have been personified by well known models and even famous actresses like Kiera Knightly, Catherine Deneuve, Carol Bouquet, Vanessa Paradis, Nicole Kidman, and Marilyn Monroe. Chanel is known for its collection of the “little black dress” and of course the Chanel No. 5 perfumes. In January 2017, Chanel released its Spring 2017 Couture Collection featuring the newest supermodels Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and also actor Johnny Depp’s 17-year-old daughter, Lily Rose Depp.

Another Italian brand has made it into the top 5 and it is none other Prada. It is known to be more accessible all over the world compared to the other luxury brands. It was founded by two brothers, Mario Prada and Martino Prada. It actually started out as a leader goods shop in Milan, Italy. A random fact, though, one of the founders, Mario Prada, does not believe that women have the right to have a place in the business industry so he tried to prevent any women in his family to take part in the business. But unfortunately, his son had no interest of running their family business so he had no choice but to let his daughter, Luisa Prada to continue his legacy. Prada features dresses, shoes and bags for both men and women. In 2007, they even produced mobile phones in partnership with LG Electronics.
#4 DOLCE & GABBANA
Dolce and Gabbana or also known as D&G. This Italian brand is considered to be the most popular and most desirable brand in the fashion industry. It was founded by two Italian designers, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, and in 1985, they presented their very first collection for women. They quickly became well known when they launched their leotard line in 1988 so they began exporting their products in Japan and in the United States by 1990. People tend to be so confused about the spelling of the brand name, so now it is commonly known as D&G. Aside from clothing and perfumes, they also released eyewear and sunglasses. In 2009, they launched their own makeup line with actress, Scarlett Johansson being the face of D&G makeup and the singer, Madonna, designed a collection of sunglasses for D&G back in 2010. And just like Prada, they also released their own mobile phones in 2006 in partnership with Motorola. D&G is also very famous for its Light Blue perfume.

Last but definitely not the least is another Italian brand founded by Giorgio Armani. It is a fashion house that manufactures ready-to-wear clothing, shoes, jewelry and watches, eyewear and cosmetics for both men and women. This brand is considered to be the most prestigious when it comes to fashion. In 2005, the estimated sales of Armani were about more than a billion dollars, making it the fastest growing fashion brand name in the world. They also now created a clothing line exclusively for children, making it one of the most popular and most expensive brand in the world. The Armani headquarters is currently located in Milan, Italy.
