Outfit Tips for New Moms
After the birth of your baby, you have a lot of things on your mind. You just had a baby so undoubtedly you’ll be occupied with taking care of your newborn. But most new moms also express worry about their appearance after birth. You will still be feeling the after pains of birth and the gradual changes in your body, and you might feel hopeless trying to look for the perfect outfit that can make you comfortable while still looking cute. But no worries, you can still look great by choosing the right clothes. Here are just some tips in looking for a great outfit for all you, new moms out there.
No Tight or Fitting Clothes
You’ve just went through three trimesters of pregnancy and now you’re on the fourth one. Sure, you’ve just given birth and said goodbye to the big bump on your tummy. However, it’s also wise to remember that your body won’t return to its original slim shape before birth. Your tummy is now like a deflated volleyball that looks saggy. But don’t fret, all mommies go through this stage! Wearing tight or fitting clothes aren’t advisable since they hug your figure, making your still recovering tummy visible. Go with tops or dresses that drape over that postpartum bump of yours to make you look slim, and tuck your bump in.
Go with Patterns
When you’ve just had a baby, patterns will be your friends. They look great on your body plus your baby will get entertained with the designs, so it’s kind of a win-win situation. Gone are the days when maternity clothes were bland and boring. There are a lot of designs with patterns that you could choose from. The key is to make sure that you choose patterns that don’t appear like it’s all over the place. You really wouldn’t want to look like a tiger or zebra so be careful!
There’s no need to spend money on clothes that won’t fit you in a few more months. You could use that money to spend on more attractive clothing instead. There’s no point in wearing expensive clothes either since they’ll probably be stained with milk or baby food. Be efficient in buying your clothes and choose the ones that are easy to clean since your clothes will probably be stained often by your new baby. Sure, you want to look good, but don’t neglect the fact that you have to dress wise too. After all, you wouldn’t want your baby to throw up all over an expensive cashmere sweater.
Stick with Easy to Clean
With the above-mentioned reason, clothes that are easier to clean should be one of your considerations since they’ll be easily soiled by your baby. Almost all moms have experienced one way or the other their blouse getting soiled with milk, drool or baby food. So better choose the ones that you can wash easily and quickly for your own convenience (and for the sake of your pocket).
Don’t Throw Away All Maternities
You may think your maternity clothes aren’t of use now after you’ve just had your baby but that’s where you’re wrong. There are a lot of tops and dresses that are attractive even though you wear them if you’re not pregnant. There are definitely nice tops and camisoles you can find in a mothers’ store which are both great for expecting and new moms.
The first few months may become a challenge for you as a new mom. You’re thinking about your limited wardrobe since your body is still returning to its original slim form. But you don’t have to be depressed about your appearance. With these tips on choosing your outfits, you can be comfortable on how you look after birth.
Most of all, keep in mind that confidence is your best asset. Sure, you’ve gained a few pounds and you’ve earned a few (maybe even a lot of) stretch marks in the process, but it’s all part of your journey and you shouldn’t feel insecure for these flaws make you who you are – a mom. So be proud, you’ve just given life to a human being, you’re a miracle and you deserve to feel good about yourself, no matter what clothes you wear.
