Elon Musk, the visionary is someone we all know, look up to, and admire. But not many people know everything about him and his journey. Where It All Began

Coming to America as an Immigrant at the tender age of 17, he had just $2000. In his attempt to finish his college education, he was neck-deep in debt with $110,000 studying at the Stanford Engineering/Physics grad school. However, he did not finish his course and had dropped out of college too. While most people might give up, stick to a low-paying job, and spend their life in regret, Elon Musk, for not one of those! Born and raised in Pretoria, South Africa, he lived in Johannesburg and Durban for a few years before moving to America.

Elon is someone who finds his motivation and passion for technology and science. It was this passion that brought him to the United States of America. Reaching Canada with his mother and living in a rent-controlled apartment with just a couch as the furniture. He went on to pursue his passion for invention. In an attempt to achieve his goals, he began applying for a role at numerous companies in Silicon Valley, including the Netscape. However, luck did not favor him, and he either did not hear back from them or got innumerable rejections.

The Birth of Zip2 and the Journey of a Serial Entrepreneur

Along with his brother, Kimbal, he founded Zip2 in 1996. The aim of founding Zip2 was to assist to help companies take their business online. Their clientele soon grew to include the New York Times, Hearst, Knight-Ridder, etc. The success of their business gave Elon his first big break as Compaq went on to acquire Zip2 for a whopping $340 million!

While most people would retire or lead a life of luxury with that kind of money, Elon was not like any other person. He invested this money into founding Paypal and went on to start companies like SpaceX and Tesla. Banking on the success of these firms, he is now involved in numerous other companies too. Some of them being The Boring Company and Neuralink. His growth in the technology and since space over the past few decades and his journey as an entrepreneur is no doubt an inspiration to many!

SpaceX and The Space Mission

The mission behind founding SpaceX was that it was to reduce the costs of space travel and enable the colonization of the planet Mars. Founded in the year 2002, SpaceX has developed numerous launch vehicles, the Starlink satellite constellation, and the Dragon Spacecraft.

And the biggest moment for Elon Musk was  SpaceX partnering with Nasa on their recent space mission. The company helped launch a crewed mission to space. This was an event that has a significant place in the history of space study and science because this is the first launch by a private company.

To develop the Dragon Spacecraft, Nasa had paid SpaceX a whopping $3.1 billion. In the past, Nasa had paid Boeing to develop the Starliner crew capsule. To this day, SpaceX has been instrumental in conducting over  100 launches and has a $12 billion contract revenue. However, not all of this is from government and space projects. According to news reports and the information on their website, the revenue for SpaceX comes from both private and government contracts.

The Future

Elon Musk is a visionary, not just because he drives his brands to success. Besides that, it is also because he dreams of the future and makes it a reality. He is now working on building a tube-transport system, which his company calls the Hyperloop. He has a current net worth of US$41.5 billion and going by his past success. We could say for sure that the number is going to double in the years to come. Elon Musk is an inspiration to thousands of people across the globe. He instills faith in people that with true determination and passion, no dream is too unrealistic!
