Advertising Platforms for Businesses
A few years ago, businesses have only a few media outlets. But nowadays, there is now a wide range of media options available to market products and services. The main reason for the growing number of media outlets depended on the advances in communication technology, especially the internet. Ever since the mass media became ‘mass’ media, companies used this means of communication to let a large number of people know about their brands. It allowed innovative ideas and concepts to be shared with others. Together with other developments, the sophistication of advertising methods and techniques has also advanced. It has enticed and shaped, and even create consumerism and needs.
Advertising media selection is the process of choosing the most cost-effective media for advertising, in order to achieve the required coverage and number of exposures in a target audience. The media outlet through which an ad will be presented has important implications for the success of the company’s promotion. Each outlet possesses unique characteristics though not all outlets are equally effective for all advertisers. Thus, choosing the right media can be a time-consuming process requiring the company to balance the pros and cons of each option.
Here are the different types of media where you can advertise:

Television
It offers the benefit of reaching a large number of audiences in a single exposure. But due to its mass medium capability and can be seen by almost everyone, it lacks the ability to deliver the advertisement to the specific target customers. Furthermore, it can be a bit expensive.

Radio
It has been a common media for advertisement. Radio stations can be heard locally, nationally, or internationally. But the same with the television, it offers a mass medium and offers little opportunity to track responses. In addition to its disadvantage, it limits the advertisers with audio-only advertisement and in some products; advertising without visual support is not effective.

Print publications
It offers advertising opportunities at all geographic levels, target specific niche or specialized interest areas, allows companies to present their message using high-quality imagery and can also offer touch and scent experiences. Its main advantage is the ability to target local markets, and special issue publications can offer selective target audience that often focuses on extremely narrow topics. You can choose from magazines, newspapers, and even create your own flyers.

Direct mail
This method of advertisement uses postal and other delivery services to ship advertising materials including postcards, letters, brochures, catalogs, and flyers, to a physical address of targeted customers. It is highly targeted, all the way down to the level of the individual but it is very expensive because a large number of customers may discard the mail before reading it.

Signage and billboard
It uses signs to communicate a business’ message in geographically identified areas in order to capture customer attention. It can reach more people but this form is limited to a picture and no more than eight words. To be more effective, you will need to use a photo that will pique the interest of the casual observers. You can also add catchy phrases.

Internet
This is the fastest media outlet for advertising. It is continuously experiencing tremendous growth and expansion each year. Its two main advantages are the ability to narrowly target an advertising message, and to track user response to the advertiser’s message. The internet offers several advertising options with the ads delivered through websites or by e-mail.
Based on the different outlets available, the internet is the most cost-effective for advertisement in businesses, especially the small ones. There are also websites where you can advertise your business for free and one example is the Google My Business. With the help of this, you can advertise with Google for FREE. In addition, your website can get more web traffic, leads, and customers.
Nowadays, you can easily create an online business. You only need to use your computer and have an internet connection and then search the internet for the materials that you need. With the help of several tools and software, managing your own business can be easy. You don’t have to be a computer or software expert but you still need to learn more information about your tools and platforms.
